Engine Room Resource Management
The purpose of this course is to ensure mandatory minimum competency standards for seafarers on the use of leadership and management skills specified in the Function «Controlling the operation of the ship and care for persons on board» Tables A/III-1, A/III-2 and A/III-6 of STCW Code.
At the end of the course, the student should be able to demonstrate competencies in using leadership (and managerial) skills and teamworking skills.
The duration of the course «Engine Room Resource Management» is 4 (four) days. Engine Room Simulator is used to consolidate the knowledge gained on management, leadership and teamworking. Practical tasks are fulfilled in full accordance with the recommendations of the IMO Model Course 2.07 and 1.39.
The training program includes the following topics:
— basic principles of engine watch;
— ability to apply task and workload management;
— engine room resource management fundamentals;
— factors affecting accident rate and correct decision making, decision making;
— crisis management and risk assessment;
— leadership and teamworking.
The cost of training is 250 USD.
