About the TC of Ship Engineers and Electro Technical Officers

General

The PDP Training Centre for Ship Engineers and Electro Technical Officers (SE PDP TC) provides professional development and specialized simulator and practical training for maritime industry professionals in accordance with the requirements of the Russian Ministry of Transport, STCW Convention and other mandatory regulations and standards. The Centre operates in compliance with the University’s Quality Policy.

The PDP Training Centre for Ship Engineers and Electro-Technical Officers is located at the University’s Ship’s power supply and propulsion systems department (St. Petersburg, 22 Liniya V.O., 9, Classroom 25)

Lectures are given by lead teachers of the University departments and by visiting professors from other educational establishments, specialists of research organisations and manufacturers of marine equipment experts.

Training follows model professional development programmes for ship engineers endorsed by the Federal Agency of Maritime and Inland Shipping.

Advanced and upgrading training of ship engineers, electrical engineers and officers (ETO) for certificate (COC) revalidation as well as refrigerator engineers in accordance with STCW 1978, as amended, and with the Regulation on Certification of Seafaring Personnel approved by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation is provided at the Ship Engineers and Electro Technical Officers PDP Training Centre

Additionally, the Centre trains shore based personnel on polluting emissions control.

Engine Room Resource Management training is delivered using the most modern dedicated simulator complex in Russia.

Theoretical and practical training is conducted at the University’s Ship’s power supply and propulsion systems departmentusing unique training laboratories of Ship Electric Propulsion, High Voltage Equipment, Internal Combustion Engines and Dual Fuel Engines, Planned Maintenance Systems operation and other labs.

Documents

Training in the PDP Training Centre of Ship Engineers and Electro Technical Officers is conducted under the license for training and education held by the University, including professional development training.

Objectives of the Centre

Main objectives of the PDP Training Centre for Ship Engineers and Electro-Technical Officers are as follows:

  • development and providing of training for seafaring personnel and other specialists of maritime industry in accordance with Russian and international requirements, recommendations, regulations and Codes.
  • development and publishing of training and instruction materials and manuals.
  • creation of new professional development programmes, training/learning tools and software applications to enable high-quality and effective professional training.
  • participation in drafting of national qualification standards, requirements to simulators and simulator centres involved in training of ship engineers and electro-technical officers.
  • trials and pilot operation of specialized simulators.

Learning Process Organisation

The training is offered intramural.

Training at the TC is available for individuals having signed educational service contract with the University or nominated by employer company.

Participants who have fulfilled all training plan requirements are admitted to final assessment resulting in issue of the standard form document – a qualification upgrade certificate or course completion certificate.
