MTC Learning Process Organisation

Quality Management System for MTC services is certified by the Russian Maritime Register for Shipping to comply with ISO 2001:2008 including STCW requirements.

Quality and high efficiency of the courses are insured by:

  1. PDP Institute Development Strategy, clearly defined objectives and strict compliance to implementation plan.
  2. Up-to-date, flexibly improved training programmes. Many programmes are approved by Maritime Administration of Russia and other IMO member states, classification societies and equipment manufacturers.
  3. Experienced and competent trainers, industry experts, simulator instructors, manufacturing professionals many of which have solid working experience on ships as masters and senior command. Some of instructors received training in leading educational institutions of Europe and the USA. Trainers and professors of the University establish high level of course methodology.
  4. Modern specialized simulators and new shipboard equipment with function and capabilities meeting the demand of most exacting domestic and foreign shipowners.
  5. Supportive atmosphere (Educational Environment) and excellent service make it possible for learners to focus on training process and to immerse into simulated reality.
  6. Effective management by the team of professionals being formed for over 20 years, preserving and building on traditions of famous ‘Makarovka’, coupled with use of modern technologies of promotion and maintaining the quality of provided services.

Organisation of the courses

Training courses at the Makarov TC are held based on standard calendar or run as group enrolments are complete. You can enrol in the course individually or on assignment from your company.

Some courses can be developed and run on request from companies.

Most courses are held at the premises of the Centre but in some occasions there are off-site trainings in the Russian Federation and abroad.

There are three categories of training programmes:

  1. Training of crew members of seagoing vessels on International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW 78, as amended)
  2. Company-specific courses for ship crew and shipping companies personnel on programmes related to fleet management, safe operation of ships and pollution prevention. The programmes include ISM Code, Bridge Team Management, Crew Resource Management and others.
  3. Specialized courses on work on certain types of ships, using specialist equipment, or other courses on request from shipowners, crewing companies and other organisations.
  4. Courses for works on continental shelf. The courses include ballast operations on semisubmersible drilling rigs, BOSIET, HUET, operation of ships with dynamic positioning, AZIPOD azimuthal thrusters and other.
  5. Courses on transport safety and security.
  6. Courses for onshore support
